Well, we had
only been living in Loomis for a short time but already the kids had made lots
of friends and were actually enjoying attending Loomis Elementary
School.
Driving down Taylor road one day I pulled up behind a car with
a custom license plate frame that read ..."Where's Loomis?"
Now, I had
been a songwriter for many years
and had enjoyed some moderate success at
it.
In order to stay sharp at songwriting you have
to keep at it, even
if you're just writing for fun. So, within the next few blocks I had already
started this song called "Where's Loomis?".
I enjoyed starting a song
about our newly adopted home town but never really thought it would gain
recognition. Still, when I finished it and my wife heard it she thought it
needed to be heard by the Loomis Town Council.
So, I performed "Where's
Loomis?" live at one of the council meetings and learned later that the song was
adopted as the Official Song of the Town of Loomis.
I have a certificate to
that effect and am just as proud of that as any other
accomplishment.
"Where's Loomis?" ( the vocal part) was recorded in
Loomis. Helping out on the chorus were a few of the local kids from our street
that were friends of our children from second grade on through graduation at
Del Oro High School!
